Vehicle Maintenance Requirements

To ensure vehicle safety and performance, your vehicle must meet the following criteria before it is approved for listing:

1. Legal Documentation

Registration: Valid Certificate of Registration must be provided.

Insurance: Active insurance policy that meets Drive mate’s minimum coverage standards.

Plates & Decals: License plates must be current; ride-hailing decals (if applicable) must be visible and up to date.

2. Brake System

Service Brake: At least 25% brake life remaining.

Parking Brake: Fully functional.

3. Exhaust System

Condition: No visible damage to exhaust components or muffler.

Emissions: No visible blue or black smoke when running.

4. Steering & Suspension

Steering: No faults in steering wheel or steering box.

Suspension: Springs, shocks, and suspension height must function properly.

5. Horn

Functionality: Must emit a clear, audible signal.

Installation: Horn must be securely mounted.

6. Visibility: Glass & Wipers

Windshield: No cracks or chips in the driver’s line of sight.

Wipers/Washer: Fully operational.

Windows: No cracks; tint must comply with local regulations.

7. Engine & Powertrain

Engine Components: All major systems must function as intended.

Fluid Systems: Cooling and lubrication systems must be properly maintained.

Warning Lights: No active dashboard warning indicators (e.g., check engine, airbag).

Recalls: No unresolved manufacturer recalls.

8. Lighting & Mirrors

Headlights: Properly aligned and functional.

External Lights: Directionals, brake lights, hazards, and plate lights must work.

Mirrors & Reflectors: All must be intact and secure.

9. Tires & Wheels

Tread Depth: Minimum of 4/32" across all tires.

Age: Tires must be no older than 6 years.

10. Safety Systems

Airbags & Seat Belts: Fully operational, with no active safety system warnings.

Structural Integrity: No loose or damaged body panels, floors, or support pillars.

Ongoing Maintenance Responsibilities

Once listed, you must continue to ensure your vehicle meets all maintenance criteria:

Routine Inspections: Regularly inspect your vehicle for wear, damage, or issues.

Prompt Repairs: Address any faults immediately to remain in compliance.

Documentation Updates: Upload renewed insurance, registration, or inspection documents as they become available.

Recall Resolution: Any recall must be resolved before the vehicle is used on the platform again.

Vehicle Misrepresentation Policy

Providing false information or failing to maintain your vehicle to required standards is a violation of Drive mate policy.

What Is Considered Misrepresentation?

Unreported Damage: Failing to disclose existing dents, cracks, or mechanical issues.

Inaccurate Listings: Advertising features the vehicle does not have (e.g., sunroof, AWD).

Invalid Documents: Submitting expired or fake registration, insurance, or inspection records.

Unsafe Re-listing: Attempting to re-list a vehicle that was previously removed for safety issues.

Consequences of Misrepresentation

Fines: Penalties may be applied for violations.

Earnings Forfeiture: You may lose income for affected trips.

Account Suspension: Repeated or serious violations can lead to permanent removal from Drive mate.

What If My Vehicle No Longer Meets the Standards?

If your vehicle fails to meet any of the requirements:

  • Temporarily pause your listing.

  • Make the necessary repairs.

  • Submit proof of repairs and updated documentation to Drive mate support.

  • Failure to maintain your vehicle to platform standards may result in removal and Host penalties.
