Roadside assistance

Roadside assistance for car breakdowns may be arranged during a booking where required and is available on a chargeable basis. The Host remains responsible for organizing support, and Drive mate is here to help coordinate with trusted third-party providers on a best-effort basis, where available. Availability, response times, and the scope of assistance may vary depending on location and provider coverage.

Scope of assistance

Roadside assistance, where available and arranged, may include the following services:

  • Fuel delivery (limited to reaching the nearest petrol station)

  • Battery jumpstart or replacement

  • Flat tyre assistance (spare fitment or temporary repair)

  • Locked keys retrieval

  • Towing (distance and coverage vary)

Drive mate does not guarantee availability, timelines, or outcomes of any third-party service.

Fees & responsibility

All roadside assistance is chargeable and payable directly to the service provider by the Host or Guest. Guests are responsible for all costs where the issue arises from use, misuse, or circumstances within their control, including but not limited to the following:

  • Running out of fuel or using the incorrect fuel type

  • Locking keys inside the car

  • Flat tyres, battery issues, or similar incidents occurring during the booking period

  • Failure to operate or secure the car appropriately

Responsibility will be determined based on the circumstances of the incident. Where the cause cannot be clearly attributed to a car fault or pre-existing issue, the Guest may be held responsible for associated costs. Where the issue is not attributable to the Guest, the Host will cover all associated costs arising from the incident such as:

  • Mechanical or electrical faults

  • Replacement parts or additional services

Host bears full cost where breakdown is linked to poor maintenance or known and pre-existing issues.

Highlights:

  • Drive mate acts solely as a coordinator and is not a service provider for roadside assistance.

  • All services are delivered by independent third-party contractors.

  • To the extent permitted under applicable Australian Consumer Law, Drive mate excludes liability for delays, service quality, availability, or outcomes of roadside assistance.

  • Responsibility is determined based on the cause of the issue.

Response expectations

Providers typically aim to attend within 60 minutes, however this is not guaranteed and may vary based on demand, traffic, and location.

Our role:

Where possible, Drive mate will connect you with the nearest available provider or facilitate communication between parties. However, final arrangement, approval, and payment remain the responsibility of the Host or Guest.
