Guest (and Host) Responsibility Policy

To ensure a smooth and secure experience on the Drive mate platform, both Hosts and Guests have specific responsibilities during the car-sharing process. Below is a breakdown of these responsibilities to help everyone enjoy a seamless transaction.

Host Responsibilities

Hosts play a critical role in maintaining a reliable and safe platform for all users. Here’s what Hosts need to do:

  1. Keep Your Vehicle in Top Condition:

    • Ensure your vehicle is well-maintained and meets the standards outlined in the Drive mate Vehicle Maintenance Guidelines.

  2. Timely Reporting of Incidents:

    • Report any incident involving your vehicle within the required timeframes:

      • Physical Key Handover: Within 24 hours of the vehicle being returned.

      • Keyless Access Vehicles (Drive mate lockbox, Drive mate Go or Otoplug): Up to 14 days after the trip ends.

  3. Re-Identification for Physical Key Handover:

    • Driver Verification: During the handover, Hosts must check the Guest’s driving license and ID to confirm they match the booking details.

    • Pick-Up and Drop-Off Process: Follow the steps outlined in Drive mate’s handover process to ensure a smooth transition for both parties.

  4. Note: For keyless access vehicles, the re-identification process is handled by the Guest via the Drive mate app (see Guest Responsibilities below).

Guest Responsibilities

Guests are responsible for ensuring a safe and trouble-free trip. Here’s what is expected:

  1. Carry Your Driving License and ID:

    • Always bring a valid driving license and government-issued ID with you.

  2. Follow Pick-Up and Drop-Off Instructions:

    • Adhere to the step-by-step process provided by Drive mate to pick up and return the vehicle.

  3. Re-Identification for Keyless Access:

    • If your trip involves keyless access, complete the re-identification process via the Drive mate app. This requires you to:

      • Take a selfie with your driving license at pick-up to confirm you are the person who booked the car.

      • Ensure the re-identification process is completed before you start your trip.

    • Important: If a different person attempts to pick up the car, the vehicle will not be released, and no reimbursement will be provided.

  4. Report Issues Promptly:

    • Notify the Host and Drive mate immediately if any issues or incidents arise during the trip.

    • All issues must be reported within 24 hours of the trip’s conclusion.

  5. Take Pre- and Post-Trip Photos:

    • It’s mandatory to take clear, time-stamped photos of the vehicle before and after your trip. These photos are crucial for resolving disputes or claims.

Why These Steps Are Important

These responsibilities are designed to ensure:

  • For Hosts: Your vehicle is protected, and any issues are addressed within defined timelines.

  • For Guests: A seamless and hassle-free trip with clear guidelines for pick-up, drop-off, and issue reporting.

By following these responsibilities, both Hosts and Guests contribute to a safe and efficient car-sharing experience.
