To ensure safety, reliability, and a positive experience for all users, Drive mate requires Hosts to meet specific vehicle maintenance standards. Below is a comprehensive overview of the requirements and responsibilities for maintaining your vehicle on the Drive mate platform.
Maintenance Requirements for Listing a Vehicle
Your vehicle must meet the following criteria to become eligible for listing:
Visual Overview and Legal Registration
Certificate of Registration: The vehicle must have valid registration.
License Plate(s) and Decal: Plates and decals (in case the car is eligible for ride-hailing) must be accurate and up to date.
Valid Insurance: The vehicle must carry in-force insurance that meets Drive mate’s requirements.
Brake Tests
Parking Brake: Fully functional and reliable.
Service Brake: Must have at least 25% life remaining.
Exhaust System
Undamaged Components: No visible damage to the exhaust system or muffler.
Smoke-Free Operation: No visible blue or black smoke emitted.
Steering and Suspension
Steering System: Steering wheel and box in proper working order.
Suspension/Front End: No faults in springs, shocks, or height adjustments.
Horn
Functionality: Horn must emit an adequate signal.
Secure Installation: Must be securely attached to the vehicle.
Glazing, Glass, and Windshield Wipers
Windshield: Free of cracks or chips in the line of sight.
Wipers and Washers: Fully operational.
Windows: No cracks, and tint must meet legal specifications.
Engine and Powertrain
Engine and Subcomponents: All systems must function as intended.
Cooling and Lubrication Systems: Proper maintenance of fluids and components.
No Warning Lights: The vehicle must not display "check engine" or other warning lights, and there must be no unresolved recalls.
Visibility and Lighting Devices
Headlights: Proper aim and no burnt-out bulbs.
Exterior Lights: Functional hazard lights, directionals, stop/reverse lights, and license plate light(s).
Reflectors and Mirrors: Secure and functional, including the rear-view mirror.
Tires and Wheels
Tread Depth: At least 4/32 or greater.
Age: Tires must be 6 years old or newer.
Seat Belts and Airbags
No Warning Lights: No airbag or safety restraint system warnings or unresolved recalls.
Body and Structural Integrity
Panels and Seals: No hanging or damaged panels.
Floor Pan and Structural Pillars: Must be undamaged.
Ongoing Maintenance Responsibilities
Regular Inspections: Hosts must routinely inspect their vehicles to ensure they meet the above standards.
Immediate Repairs: Any identified faults or damages must be addressed promptly.
Compliance with Policies: Hosts are responsible for understanding and adhering to Drive mate’s Vehicle Maintenance and Misrepresentation policies.
Vehicle Misrepresentation Policy
Misrepresenting your vehicle or its condition violates Drive mate’s standards and may result in fines, removal from the platform, and other penalties.
What Constitutes Vehicle Misrepresentation?
Failure to Disclose Damage: Not accurately reporting or photographing pre-existing damage.
False Listings: Advertising unavailable features (e.g., AWD, A/C, roof rack).
Invalid Documentation: Providing expired registration, insurance, or other required documents.
Re-listing Unsafe Vehicles: Attempting to re-enable vehicles removed for safety or policy violations.
Consequences of Vehicle Misrepresentation
Fines: Monetary penalties for violations.
Loss of Earnings: Hosts may forfeit earnings for affected trips.
Platform Removal: Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent removal from the Drive mate marketplace.
Failure to Maintain Your Vehicle
Vehicles that do not meet these requirements or are found to be improperly maintained may be removed from the platform. Hosts are responsible for any costs associated with maintaining or repairing their vehicles to meet Drive mate’s standards.
