What is the eligibility criteria for cars on Drive mate?

Wondering if your vehicle can be listed on Drive mate? This guide outlines the requirements to ensure your car is eligible to join our platform.

Car Eligibility Overview

To be eligible, your vehicle must meet at least one of the following three criteria. These ensure vehicle safety, reliability, and legal compliance on the Drive mate platform.

Option 1: Standard Vehicle Criteria

Your car is eligible if it meets all of the following:

  • Manufactured in 2008 or later

  • Valued at $120,000 or less

  • Less than 200,000 km on the odometer
    (Vehicles with up to 220,000 km may still be accepted on a case-by-case basis)

Option 2: Market Value Criteria

Your car may also be eligible if:

It has a Redbook value of $8,000 or more at the time of listing

We may also accept:

Vintage, classic, sports, or performance vehicles

(Reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis)

Option 3: Van and Ute Exceptions

Vans and utes may still qualify even if older than 2008 or with more than 200,000 km, especially if diesel-powered and known for durability.

These are considered on a case-by-case basis by the Drive mate team.

Do note that your vehicle needs to comply with ANY OF THE THREE CRITERIA above.

Additional Requirements

Regardless of whether your car meets the base or alternative criteria, the following requirements must also be satisfied:

  • Registered in Australia and legally compliant

  • Privately owned passenger vehicle (not a commercial truck or motorcycle)

  • Four wheels, seating no more than 12 passengers

  • Clean title (no salvage or branded vehicles)

  • Well maintained and serviced regularly

  • Compliant with Drive mate’s maintenance policy

  • GPS device installed

    Accepted fuel types include petrol, diesel, LPG, hybrid, and electric.

Ineligible Vehicle Types

The following vehicles cannot be listed on Drive mate:

  • Motorcycles or bikes

  • Construction or farm equipment

  • Limousines

  • Vehicles designed primarily for off-road use

  • Vehicles that require a commercial license to operate

Special Cases

We may still accept:

Repairable write-offs that have been fully repaired and certified

High-mileage vans and utes (reviewed individually)

Policy Updates

Drive mate reserves the right to update vehicle eligibility requirements at any time. Make sure your car continues to meet these criteria as it ages.
