Drive mate subscription plans & device requirements
Drive mate offers flexible subscription plans that use required devices to ensure accurate mileage tracking, secure handovers, and stronger protection for Hosts.
Both plans require an active GPS device, either BYOD or Drive mate-provided.
Hosts may bring their own supported device (BYOD) or request one from Drive mate.
Required plans to choose from:
1. Good mates: $10/month
Manual handover + required GPS tracking
Mandatory GPS tracking via OBD (BYOD or Drive mate-provided)
Automated mileage logging
Manual key handover
Lockbox is an optional add-on for extended dispute protection
2. Best mates- $30 monthly
Keyless access + required GPS tracking
Keyless access via Otoplug (BYOD or Drive mate–provided)
Remote, automated key handover
Automated mileage tracking
Mandatory GPS or SGPS for dispute accuracy and compliance
Advanced security features
Keyless access technology - Drive mate Go 3.0 keyless technology entered field trials in October 2024. Hosts may use a compatible BYOD Otoplug or request one from Drive mate. A $2 one-time transfer fee applies for each BYOD device added.
Optional add-ons
1. Lockbox - $10/month
• Enables secure manual handovers
• Gives you a 14-day dispute reporting window, compared to the standard 24 hours.
• Not compatible with BBI Insurance
2. Secondary GPS (SGPS) - $5/month
• Adds an additional layer of tracking for security
• Required in select postcodes
3. BBI Insurance - $130/month
• Covers the vehicle between bookings
• Not compatible with Lockbox
Device preferences:
1. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD). Use your own supported GPS or keyless device such as an Otoplug. A $2 setup fee applies per device added Learn more about BYOD
2. Request a device from Drive mate. Request a Lockbox, GPS, or Otoplug during plan setup. Standard subscription or installation fees apply.
How to subscribe or change your plan: Follow these steps to subscribe or update your subscription:
1. Log in to your Drive mate Host account.
2. Go to Settings > Subscription.
a. Good mates (Manual handover + required GPS tracking)
b. Best mates (Keyless access + required GPS tracking)
3. Choose your device option:
BYOD: Use your own Otoplug or GPS device
Drive mate-provided: Request a device from Drive mate
4. Add any optional features:
Lockbox
Secondary GPS
BBI Insurance
5. Confirm your payment method and submit.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Can I switch from Good mates to Best mates later?
A. Yes. You can upgrade anytime in your subscription settings. Please allow 2–3 business days for hardware setup or delivery.
Q. Is my Otoplug device compatible?
A. Most Otoplug models are supported. You'll be prompted to confirm compatibility during BYOD setup.
Q. What if I live in a postcode that requires Secondary GPS?
A. You’ll be notified during plan selection. The Secondary GPS will be automatically added if required.
Q. Can I use BBI Insurance with a lockbox?
A. No. Lockboxes are not compatible with BBI Insurance.
