This step-by-step guide shows you how to document the car’s condition, verify your identity, lock the car, and end the trip — no matter the vehicle type.
Follow the instructions below to ensure your trip is insured and hassle-free.
Here’s a crisp, easy-to-read version that keeps all information but flows faster and feels customer-friendly:
Returning Your Car — Quick Steps to End Your Trip
1. Return on time
Drop the car off at your scheduled time. Even if you’re early, wait until you’re ready to complete check-out in the app.
2. Park safely
Park legally and safely—ideally on the same street and side where you picked it up (unless your host says otherwise). Make sure the car isn’t blocking driveways, traffic, or other vehicles.
3. Stay with the car & open the app
Keep the car nearby, open the Drive mate app, go to your current trip, and select End Trip. You’ll need to take photos while completing the process.
4. Take clear photos
To confirm the car’s condition, capture:
Exterior: front, back, and both sides
Interior: seats, dashboard, odometer
Fuel gauge: clearly showing the level
These photos protect both you and the host.
5. Enter odometer & fuel details
Confirm or enter the odometer reading and fuel level. Upload your fuel receipt—it’s required for reimbursement and verification.
6. End the trip in the app
After uploading photos and details, tap End Trip. Wait for the confirmation that it’s complete.
7. Check for confirmation
You’ll get an in-app message or email once your trip has officially ended. If you don’t see it, revisit the app and check for any pending steps.
8. Having trouble?
Check your internet connection
Close and reopen the app
Reinstall the app if needed
If the issue continues, contact Drive mate Support with screenshots.
(Tip: Stay with the car until you see confirmation the trip has ended.)
