What’s New in Drive mate Pricing 2.0

Drive mate Pricing 2.0 introduces a UCS-style pricing model (Usage, Coverage, Simplicity), which calculates charges based on trip duration and distance, and includes fuel in the per-kilometre cost.

Key Benefits:

  • No manual fuel or mileage charges for hosts

  • Automatic late return fees applied to guests

  • More transparent pricing for both parties

Note: Existing and in-progress bookings remain on the previous pricing model and will not be affected by Pricing 2.0.

How Pricing Works

1. Duration Charges (Hourly and Daily Rates)

  • Hosts set both hourly and daily rates for their vehicles.

  • Hourly charges are capped at the daily rate within a 24-hour period to ensure cost predictability.

2. Distance Charges (Per-Kilometre Fee)

  • Guests pay a per-kilometre rate that includes fuel costs.

  • Hosts can select one of the following guest rates:

    $0.35 per km

    $0.45 per km

    $0.55 per km

  • Drive mate retains $0.09 per km as a platform fee.

  • The default per-kilometre rate is $0.33, which hosts can modify in their settings.

Host Earnings

  • Hosts earn 75% of the total duration-based charges paid by guests.

  • For vehicles enrolled in the BBI (Better Business Initiative) program, host earnings increase to 85%.

Protection & Booking Fees

1. Protection Fee (Insurance Coverage)

Guests are charged a protection fee equal to 12% of the duration charge, with a minimum of $9.99 per day (or part day).

This covers comprehensive insurance with a $3,000 standard excess.

2. Optional Excess Reduction

Guests may lower their insurance excess by selecting a protection tier:

Premium Protection: $1,500 excess → $10/day

Maximum Protection: $500 excess → $18/day

3. Booking Fee

A one-time booking fee applies to each trip.

Starts at $6.99 per trip, with the amount increasing based on trip duration.
