Between Booking Insurance (BBI) is an optional insurance plan for Hosts who want peace of mind when their vehicle is not on a Drive mate trip. It provides annual coverage during downtime while offering financial and platform benefits.

  • Insurance Provider: Insuret (custom-designed for Drive mate P2P sharing)

Coverage Scope: Applies when your car is not currently booked on a Drive mate trip

Cost & Commission Benefit

BBI includes three pricing tiers:

Tier Monthly Cost

Tier 1 $120/month

Tier 2 $130/month

Tier 3 $140/month

Drive mate commission on trip earnings is reduced to 15% (normally 25%) for vehicles enrolled in BBI.


Coverage Details

  • Annual Non-Trip Mileage Limit: 2,000 km per year

  • Additional Kilometres: $1 per extra km (up to 500 km max)

  • Host Excess: $1,000 for any between-trip claim

  • Premium Impact: Any claim made outside trips will affect future insurance premiums

Eligibility Requirements

To enroll in BBI, your vehicle must meet all of the following:

  • Listed exclusively on Drive mate (no dual listings allowed)

  • Maintains at least 70% availability on the Drive mate platform

  • Enrolled in the Best mates program

➤ Includes vehicles with installed keyless access, or currently awaiting install

  • Vehicle value is under $70,000

  • Not using a lockbox (on or off-vehicle lockboxes disqualify the car)

Ineligible Vehicles

BBI is not available if:

  • Your vehicle uses a lockbox of any kind

  • Your vehicle is listed on another platform (invalidation of between-trip cover)

  • Vehicle value is $70,000 AUD or more

Note: In-trip insurance remains valid even if BBI is voided.

How to Enroll in BBI


Important Notes

  • Between-trip coverage starts once BBI is activated and your keyless device is installed or scheduled

  • Claims made while listed on another platform may void BBI coverage

  • All claims will incur the standard $1,000 excess and affect future premiums
